Hive Code of Conduct

The Hive provides students with the opportunity to study in a place which is comfortable and conducive to their learning. In order to accomplish this, all students and parents are requested to abide by the following Hive Code of Conduct.

  1. Consent and Bookings
    1. Read, sign and adhere to all regulations stipulated in the Code of Conduct Declaration.
    2. Code of Conduct Declaration must be signed before a student is permitted to use the Hive for the first time.
    3. Students must book the hive in advance. Bookings are to be made by Saturday 4pm the previous week for the next week,to avoid disappointment and ensure availability. Non booked students will be sent home.
    4. No on the day bookings permitted.
    5. No same week bookings permitted.
    6. Bookings may occur over the phone or in person by the parent or student.
    7. Year 11 and Year 12 students have unlimited booking daily.
    8. Booked sessions must be at specified times according to timetable and students must attend for the entire session duration as no late or early leave is permitted.
    9. A late arrival may be turned away.
    10. There is no group study permitted in the hive.
    11. The number of students allowed to use the Hive at any one time is left to the discretion of Chalkwall.
  2. HiveUsage
    1. All students are required to sign in and out of the Hive.
    2. Students must bring their individual work for the duration of study.
    3. Chalkwall will not provide extra work for a student to complete in the hive.
    4. Students must work independently and in a productive manner at all times.
    5. Year 11 and Year 12 students who have booked in to more than one session on a day may have a break only at the time specified on timetable between sessions. They must ensure to return to the Hive on time for the next session or they will not be permitted to enter as no late entry is allowed.
    6. Eating and drinking is prohibited at all times,except water.
    7. Student assistance will be provided when Geniuses are available, otherwise students are still expected to work effectively.
    8. Dismissal will be considered if a student remains idle or becomes disruptive.
    9. All students must enter the Hive with an independent study plan. The study plan must be pre prepared and submitted to a Genius when they sign in to the Hive. Study plan templates are available on request from the Hive.
    10. Students must ensure that the space used is left in a well-ordered and tidy manner. All litter must be placed in bins provided. No furniture is allowed to be moved.
    11. All materials/resources must remain inside the hive at all times.
    12. If a student is tired or unproductive in the hive, they will be informed to signout and guardians will be notified to pick up student.
    13. The Hive is strictly for study and research purposes only.
    14. Students are expected to use their time in the room for quiet study.
    15. Students must not interrupt the study space of any other student/s.
  3. Use of IT
    1. Students may use the Internet to complete their work on their personal devices (excluding phones).
    2. Internet is to beused for researchor study purposes only.
    3. All phones must be on silent/switched off and kept out of sight.
    4. Students must report all internet operational issues to the Geniuses in the Hive.
  4. Improper Use of Resource Facilities and/or Other Material
    1. If a student damages, defaces, mutilates, removes or attempts to remove materials/resources or property they could be suspended and/or asked to replace the resource/material.
    2. Inappropriate use of the Internet will result in dismissal and could mean limited access to the Hive in the future.
  5. Misconduct

    The following behavior will lead to student eviction:

    1. Noise,rowdiness and offensive behavior.
    2. Harassment of Chalkwall staff or other students.
    3. Use of mobile phones.
    4. Inappropriate use of technology and/or Internet(i.e.mobile/laptops etc.)
    5. Failure to comply with Hive Code of Conduct may lead to student eviction and/or withdrawal of Hive privileges. This is left up to the discretion of Chalkwall.
