The first thing we like to tackle in our classes are students’ individual school problems. From there we move on to teaching students Maths content while revising previously taught concepts.
Weekly lessons are aimed at making students sharper. This helps increase their confidence when it comes to more complex Maths topics.
Our goal is not to train students to simply memorise Maths techniques. Rather, we aim for students to understand Maths content and be able to think about the problems and find solutions comfortably on their own. In turn, this will help them become more confident in exams which will ultimately improve their performance.
Weekly homework tasks, revision sets, regular topic exams and major Half Yearly and Yearly exams also help ensure that students remain consistent and on task.

Our students are not the only ones we assess to measure growth. We believe that only great teachers can build great students. This is why we ensure that all our Educators have exceptional content knowledge, awesome delivery techniques and a positive approachable attitude. All these qualities with our quality assurance systems to regularly assess the performance of our teachers help us maintain our top quality educational programs.
At Alpha our teachers have taken the step beyond the role of just an educator. In the HSC, studying course content alone is not enough. Students need more than just the subject matter expertise. They also need inspiration, motivation, hope, excitement and passion.
Our teachers coach our students to:
Respect the HSC as a door to greatness, not as a burden
This story sheds light on a mother, Aisha Hussein, who studied at Chalkwall. 18 years later, and all her 4 children study at Chalkwall, too.
Homework is set weekly where students practice the skills learnt in class to demonstrate their level of understanding. Students mark their own homework so they know exactly where they went wrong.
Students are then given an opportunity to ask for help in the next lesson where their teacher will go through problems in class.
Informal assessments are carried out during class where learning is demonstrated through evidence in work samples and teacher observations. Students are also tested at the end of each topic.
Students are given formal exams for Half Yearlies, Yearlies and Trials where feedback is provided to the student. These results are used to determine areas of need and become a focal point for further learning.
Students are provided with a class work booklets for each topics. Students also receive revision booklets, topic by topic booklets and past exam packages.
Student attendance, homework completion and understanding of content taught is recorded on a weekly basis for tracking purposes.
